It is these principles, and not anything special about Dalio, that he believes are the reason behind whatever success he has had. Make sure they're fully informed and believable. Find out who is responsible for whatever you are seeking to understand and then ask them. Listening to uninformed people is worse than having no answers at all.

To what extent should you hear out opposing views of believable people?
To the extent that you are at the point of diminishing returns. As a rule of thumb, I like to hear the reasoning of the three most believable people who disagree with me, which I call triangulation. But it depends on a number of things such as how important the decision is, how much time you have to make it, etc. These considerations are all spelled out in Principles so I suggest that you use it as a reference because I might not be able to answer all your questions personally as I’m doing now.
